Dennis John Leach Obituary (2024)

Dennis John Leach passed away on September 1, 2024 as a result of heart failure. Dennis was born June 20, 1961, in San Diego, California. He moved to Seattle at age 10, where he graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1979. He attended Washington State University and Bailey's School of Broadcasting with a degree in broadcasting. His love of sports and his degree brought him to Ellensburg and KXLE radio where he was hired in the late 1980's to do play-by-play for the Ellensburg rodeo, Ellensburg high school sports, and CWU football and basketball. He also worked for KQBE radio, and Yakima radio stations. Additionally, he did the color commentary for the Yakima SunKings basketball team. After his career in play-by-play, he worked for US Cellular for many years. During his time at Washington State University, he met his future wife, Lori Amsden. They married in 1990 and made Ellensburg their home. Together they raised two sons, Canton (Danielle) and Brayton (Nikole). He is survived by his wife Lori of 34 years and his sons, who he said were his greatest accomplishments. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. No services are planned, but Dennis loved animals and wished for donations be made to an animal shelter or rescue organization of your choice.
