Emily Joan Quinlan Obituary (1927

Emily Joan Quinlan, went home to Heaven in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from the Mennonite Home in Albany, OR. She blessed many with her sweet spirit. She was often heard saying, 'God is so-o-o-o good' and 'I love people.' Joan was born April 15, 1927 in Kansas City, MO to John Paul and Emily Kite Lambert. She married her soul-mate Homer Leland Quinlan on June 1, 1948 in Fort Worth, TX where they both were attending Bible seminary. She joined her husband in the Gospel ministry as a true helpmeet as Homer pastored churches in Kansas, California, Oregon, and Washington. The Quinlans were known for their love for one another and their love for people. Their last pastorate was Calvary Baptist Church of Yakima, WA where they served and attended 32 years. Homer preceded his wife to Heaven in April, 2013. Son Roger went home to Heaven as a young man in 1973. Joan is survived by her sister and husband, Ken and Judy Adrian of Springfield, MO; daughter and husband, Dick and Dixie Kearns of Lebanon, OR; son and wife, Rob and Robin Quinlan of Fresno, CA; five grandchildren: Alicia and husband Nathan Syme of Las Vegas, NV, Joy and husband Ruben Pardo of Seattle, WA, Jennifer and husband Adam Lee of Arroyo Grande, CA, John Quinlan and wife Kelsey of Visalia, CA, Jamie Quinlan of Arcata, CA; and 10 great-grandchildren. Viewing and visitation with the family will be Thursday, Sept 22, from 3:00 to 6:00PM at Brookside Funeral Home (500 W Prospect, Moxee, WA). Viewing will also be held on Friday, Sept 23, from 8:30 to 10:00AM, also at Brookside Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 10:30AM on Friday, Sept 23rd at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. A Celebration of Joan's life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church (903 W Washington Ave., Yakima) at 1:00PM on Friday, Sept 23. There will be a reception at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Heartland Baptist Bible College in care of Brookside Funeral Home (PO Box 1267, Moxee, WA 98936), who is caring for the family.
