Gina Lynn (Lowe) Longton, of Yakima, Washington, passed away peacefully at home on February 13, 2025, surrounded by her family and beloved dogs, after a courageous short battle with cancer. She was born on December 18, 1955, in Yakima, Washington, to Robert "Bob" Lowe and Evelyn (Hornbuckle) Lowe. A proud graduate of Davis High School and Mr. Bill's Hair Academy, Gina went on to build a life filled with love and dedication in her and her husband's hometown of Yakima. She married the love of her life, William Roger Longton, on February 12, 1983, in Reno, Nevada. Their shared passions brought them even closer, especially their love for fishing, which began early in their relationship and continued for decades. Their annual trips to the Olympic Peninsula during Christmas time became a cherished tradition for Gina, Bill, and their son, William "Ryan" Longton, who was born in September 1983. In her youth, Gina found joy in horseback riding and raising her beloved standard poodles. As an adult, she found peace and happiness fishing along the rivers of central Washington. A warm and welcoming presence, Gina had the rare ability to make everyone around her feel at ease. Her inquisitive mind led her to pursue a wide range of interests, but it was her passion for nature and environmental causes that truly resonated with her. Gina enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, often found laughing with loved ones over a game of Bingo or scratching a pull tab. A lifelong animal lover, Gina's home was always filled with the presence of cherished pets, especially dogs. Gina is preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn (Hornbuckle) McPherson (2024), and her mother-in-law, Norma Longton (1994). She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, William "Bill" Longton, her son, William "Ryan" Longton, and daughter-in-law, Dominique, her brother, Robert Steven Lowe (Janet), her sister, Chrissy Schott, and her cherished grandchildren, Gunner Longton and Stella Longton. Gina also leaves behind a close-knit family of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends who will always remember her with love and affection. Gina wanted to make sure her grandchildren would take on life with fervor. She especially liked the lyrics to a popular song, I Hope You Dance, "And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance" A celebration of Gina's life will be held in the summer, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and scatter her ashes at her favorite fishing spots across Washington.
