Harold Ray Huffman Obituary (2025)

Harold Ray Huffman, a true cowboy at heart and beloved member of the Yakima community, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on August 15, 1955, to Ray and Beth Huffman. Harold spent his early years moving throughout the Northwest, where he developed a deep love for horses. Harold dedicated much of his life to training horses and took great pride in the work he did helping children with disabilities learn to ride. In 1998, Harold made Yakima his home, where he discovered a new passion: building model trains and trucks. What began as a hobby became a life-long project. Over the years, he engineered a train display that ran through several rooms of his home, showcasing his remarkable creativity and attention to detail. Harold was also a committed member of the local community. Known for collecting cardboard from area businesses, his dedication and service earned him recognition in 2011 as a Yakima County Public Services Solid Waste Division Recycling Hero. Through his recycling route, Harold formed lasting friendships, including a close bond with the family of Taqueria Los Primos Restaurant, who became like family to him, and enjoyed his stories and humor. Harold is survived by his sisters, Wenda Snyder of Yakima and Joan Thomas of Spring Creek, NV, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Beth Huffman; his sister, Carla Williams; and his brother, Randy Huffman.
