Paul Tamayo Velasquez Obituary (2023)

Paul Tamayo Velasquez, age 94, departed this world on May 16, 2023, in Yakima, Washington. He was born on June 22, 1928, in Italy, Texas. Paul was a master of woodworking, and he loved working in his beautiful yard. He was a true family man, who cherished his wife, Josephine. They enjoyed music and dancing together and shared a deep love for their children and grandchildren. Paul was a man of great integrity and work ethic, who dedicated himself to his career and family. He served at Boise Cascade in Yakima, Washington, before his well-deserved retirement. Paul was proud of his family's achievements and always encouraged them to reach their full potential. His legacy of hard work, and strong values will live on through those he leaves behind. Paul is survived by his daughter, Angie (Ted) Westwood, son, Robert (Jan) Velasquez; daughter, Lissa (Doug) Shively, granddaughter, Christine Carve, grandson, Jerad (Wendy) Geer, grandson, Teddy (Tara) Westwood, granddaughter, Erica Westwood, grandson, Derek (Melda) Velasquez, granddaughter, Erika (Derek) Palmer, granddaughter, Alexandra Shively and granddaughter, Samantha Shively, 17 great grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, as well as five brothers and two sisters. He is preceded in death by his beloved spouse of 69 years, Josephine Velasquez, his parents, Antonio and Juanita Velasquez, and other loved ones, including two sisters and five brothers. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Family Catholic Church, in Yakima, Washington, on June 1, 2023, at 10:00am, to pay tribute to the life of Paul Tamayo Velasquez. A Graveside Service will be held at Calvary Cemetery, immediately following the Funeral. A Reception will follow at Holy Family Catholic Church. Brookside Funeral Home is caring for the family.
