Roy 'Lon' Bowers Obituary (1950

Roy Lonsdale "Lon" Bowers 72 passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, with his wife Nita by his side. He was born August 19, 1950, to Roy V. and Floridel (Mitchell) Bowers, an Ellensburg Pioneer family. Lon was an ace mechanic working for Frank Green, WSDOT and then opening his own business Bowers Auto and Boats. His family lovingly called him the "MacGyver of Tools," he was passionate about collecting all kinds of tools. The need for speed frequently showed up on the water at Vantage. Lons love of cars, boats and motorcycles did not diminish with age. His Triumph was his baby, though he also had a Harley, and a Honda. He also collected cars and owned 3 boats and spent time snowmobiling in the winter. He believed strongly in our 2nd amendment, our constitution, and the NRA. He enjoyed his coffee and lunch groups, Nascar, mechanic shows and his dogs. He spent leisure time watching and enjoying the families of deer roam in the yard this year, there were several sets of twins, this guaranteed to put a smile on his face. Lon was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge, RCO club, Mukrakers and every year he honored the memory of his father by taking his tractors to the Threshing Bee. Lon was passionate about everything he did, he especially enjoyed reading manuals about everything, he never focused on one subject. He is survived by his wife, Juanita, mother Floridel Bowers, brother, Don (Sheri), sister, Marily Minton (Rick Frazzel), siter-in-law, Christine. stepdaughter Nikki Patrick and grandchildren, Erin, Allison, Shelby, and great grandson Isaac. Lon was preceded by his father Roy, grandparents, Roy and Freda Bowers, brother, Brian Bowers, and his favorite aunt Wilma Stellingwerf Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at I.O.O.F Cemetery, 1900 Brick Rd., Ellensburg.
