Sandra Greer Obituary (2023)

Sandy Greer (81) was born to Murle and Ada (Gordon) Fields, in Ellensburg. She was the oldest of 4 and the only daughter. She was also the first born of her generation of cousins. Her Aunt Winona, (13 years old at the time) thought Sandy was "Pretty special, The cats meow". She said when Sandys brother Bill was born, Sandys caring nurturing nature began. Her caring arms would keep Bill from going near the stair well and be wrapped around him just sitting in the yard or up in the trees. Sandys love for Don and Scott was the same. They were raised out in the Manastash, first below the Wheelers, then close to the Blands, attending Damman school and then high school in town. Ada would take Sandy and her girlfriends to the Grange and Denmark Dances as well as lead 4H cooking, baking, and sewing. One of their projects was to make Tea towels. Sandy didnt quite get the corners right and had to redo them several times. Cutting corners, being restless and wanting to be independent led her to run to Coeur d Alene a few times. Shortly after turning 18, Sandy married Kenneth Lovaas on February 13, 1960 in Ellensburg. They had Kathy (1961), Pam (1963), and Kevin (1965) to complete their family. Car racing was a family affair. In-laws, siblings, friends, and neighbors were all involved, from building, painting, pit crew and spectating. Sandy would race stock car in powder puff heat and won a few BIGGER trophies than Kenney. The demolition derby was a fourth of July tradition. They divorced in 1977. Raising the family on 10th Avenue created lifelong friendships. If the kids couldnt find the parents wed know where to go and vice versa. Sandy started working at Twin City Foods when Kevin started kindergarten, retiring in 1998. She made lifelong friends and enjoyed the monthly retiree luncheons. Sandy loved hosting parties, bridal and baby showers, home interior, Tupperware, Pampered Chef and spa parties too. Anything to bring the girls together and share new recipes. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, tent camping, dancing, and going to concerts. She also enjoyed meeting up with the kids and grandkids doing whatever they were doing or just going to share a meal with dessert. Tiramisu, Pollys carrot cake, peach cobbler at the cottage, or the banana splits at Laredos were her favorites. Anything with Caramel always sounded good to her too. Sandy Married John Greer rodeo weekend 1992. Welcoming his family and stepchildren. Camping elevated in style with the motorhomes. She drove them with great confidence. She preferred being a passenger in the smaller one, as the wind had more control on the bigger one. They enjoyed many extended weekends visiting family and friends throughout the years. Sandy was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, wife, aunt, niece, "grams", and friend. Death nor Divorce kept families from being family. Sandy was accepting of all. Sandy loved her family and the traditions they shared. Holiday meals and family gatherings. Jigsaw puzzles, waffle night, crocheting and just driving around the valley, through the canyon with her binoculars in hand looking at all the wildlife. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, brother Don Fields, daughter Kathy (Lovaas) Blinn, and husband John Greer. She is survived by brothers Bill (Bonnie) Fields of Michigan, Scott (Holly) Fields of Kittitas, daughter Pam (Mitch) Buchholz, son Kevin Lovaas and step- daughter Terri Marcell of Ellensburg, grandsons Joe, Josh and Jarod Jewett, Matt and Billy Buchholz, granddaughter Kristina Hahn, 6 great grandchildren, step grandsons and great grands, and her dog Milo. She battled lung cancer 7 years. There will be no services. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Cancer Care of Seattle.
