Ted Warren Godwin Obituary (2024)

Surrounded by his loving family, Ted Godwin left this world for one that is peaceful and totally pain free. Ted grew up in a caring family with three siblings: Terri Howden, Phoenix, AZ, Jane Colvig, CO, and Steve Godwin, Sequim, WA. Some of his fondest memories were of spending his summers working and playing with cousins in the Blue Mountains of Oregon. This is where he developed a strong work ethic as well as an unconventional sense of humor, which he credits in part to one particular Uncle. Ted enlisted in the Coast Guard and spent time in Key West, Florida, at electronics school. He was stationed out of Seattle, WA, and completed three deployments to several different ocean stations, including a tour in Japan. After discharge, Ted attended Yakima Valley College, shortly after enrolling he was offered a job at Boise Cascade Mill in Yakima where he worked for over 30 years, working his way up to Saw Filer and eventually Supervisor. When the mill closed, he went back to school and completed three different associate degrees, including one in Engineering. His last employment was with Conley Engineering, which is now called Connetix. Ted was an avid bridge player and often played with what his family referred to as his "Bridge Wives" at the Senior Center. Ted married his wife, Julie (Omlin) on July 26th, 1975, and was the father to two children, Chelsea Myers of Yakima, and Trevor Godwin, who preceded him in death in 2012. He was a loving and generous husband, father, and grandfather, whos grandchildren referred to him as "Goomba". His grandchildren, Cougar Myers and Lux Myers were his pride and joy and they will miss him dearly, as well as those who knew him. He may be gone from us physically but he will always be loved and missed.
