Adam Alfred Berger, Jr. Obituary (2024)

Adam A. Berger Jr. passed away peacefully, at the age of 85, after a four-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Adam was born in 1938 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to parents, Adam Sr. and Shirley Berger. He resided in Clinton, Louisiana until the age of 20, when he joined the U.S. Navy. Adam spent six years stationed throughout the Pacific, from Japan to the Philippines. It was while briefly stationed in Seattle, that he met his wife, Molly McRayde, who he would be married to for the next 64 years. Upon his discharge from the Navy, Adam worked at Boeing while he and Molly started their family in West Seattle. He then began working for STI, a nationwide sales training company. During this time, he was instrumental in creating and instructing the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard in the implementation of their nation-wide recruitment training protocol. His career took him to Spokane and then to Arlington, Texas, before finally returning and putting down roots in Kirkland, Washington, where he and Molly would raise their three kids. Adam would go on to excel in the business world working for Schucks Auto Supply, as Operations Manager, The Squire Shop, as Executive Vice President, and Pietros Pizza, as Vice President of Operations. Although hard work and dedication were paramount to the person he was, he was always happiest when he was fishing, camping, working on home projects, and spending time with his family. Despite maintaining a busy schedule, Adam also found time to coach youth football through Kirkland Parks & Rec. Although he lost his sight and was subsequently diagnosed with cancer late in life, he never lost his amazing sense of humor that he was known for, nor his profound lust for life. He loved deeply and acted as father, teacher, mentor, and friend to those in his life and to those he encountered. Adam is survived by his wife, Molly, son, Adam III, daughter, Elizabeth (Brian), and son, Matthew (Kimberly). Grandchildren, Alexis, Evan, Haley, Schuyler, and Avery, along with numerous close friends and relatives. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 2:00pm, at Grace of Christ Presbyterian Church, in Yakima, WA. Brookside Funeral Home is caring for the family.
