Beckie Sue Place Obituary (2025)

Beckie S. Place, age 73, of Yakima, WA, lost her battle to cancer, and was called to her heavenly home from Sunnyside Healthcare Center on April 3rd, 2025. Her family and friends meant the world to her. She didn't have much materialistic things, but if you needed something she would do what she could with what she had, even if it was giving the shirt off her back. Beckie would always be there with her arms wide open. Beckie retired after 25 years of retail at Sears on July of 2017. After retiring, Beckie would look forward to her luncheons with the retirees from Sears, going to the Quilters Group at the church, and working on her own crafts in between, which includes crocheting, sewing, cross stitches, and other crafts that she loved doing. Beckie's faith in the heavenly Father was very strong. She would attend church services every week and Bible study when she could. When she became ill she couldn't make it to church, but every Sunday morning she would wake up and turn on her TV. She would change the channel to one that would have a morning church service and watch it. Beckie would then go to her daily devotions and portal of prayers book and read them daily. When she was diagnosed with the cancer she didn't let that stop her from her faith in the heavenly Father. Beckie, when asked about it, she would tell everyone, "The Lord has a plan for me; you just have to believe and trust Him in every way every day." Beckie S. Place was born on July 23rd, 1951 to Harold Jr and Kathleen Bauman of Defiance, Ohio. She was preceded in death by both her grandparents, her parents, her sister Linda Zimmerman, and her daughter Valorie Furrow-Simpson. She is survived by her brother Dan and his wife Mic Bauman and their children and grandchildren, her sister Debbie Stoepfel and her children and grandchildren, her sister Linda Zimmerman's children and grandchildren, her son Vernon and his wife Shavonne Place and their children, her son Troy Place and his fiance April Hyde and their children, her best friend Nancy Yearout and her children and grandchildren, and her former husband of whom they spent 30 years together before getting a divorce in 2006, John Place. VIEWING is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8th, from 4:00 to 6:00pm at Brookside Funeral Home in Moxee, WA. FUNERAL SERVICE on Wednesday, April 9th, at 11:00am at Peace Lutheran Church in Yakima.
