Caroline Grace Ethell Obituary (2025)

Caroline Ethell, beloved wife, mother, daughter and friend, passed away on February 7, 2025, in Issaquah Washington. Caroline was born on October 14, 1985, in Yakima, to Tim and Beverly Johnson, both of Yakima. Having been from large families, Caroline has numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, besides her siblings, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, whom she adored, and the feelings were mutual! She relocated with the family to Whidbey Island, Washington in 2000, where she finished her education and went on to graduate from cosmetology school. She worked with her mother at "Beverly's Mutiney Bay Salon" in Freeland, Washington. She married Duane Hunt, and they had two beautiful children, Lilliauna and Caleb. As happens in life, things change. In 2011, Caroline married the love of her life, David Ethell. Together they had a daughter, Grace Ethell, joining David's son, Micah Ethell. Carolines four children's childhood friends referred to Caroline as "Mama." She was so sweet and opened her home and her heart to her children's friends and those in need. Caroline and Dave's love of nature would see them taking advantage of the great Northwest's offerings, fishing, crabbing, clam digging, picking mushrooms and berry's, canning asparagus and pickles, and growing her own vegetables and beautiful flowers. Many family members such as aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and brothers were along on these ventures. Caroline loved the older country music, but also the classic rock and jazz introduced to her by her dad. She was very patriotic. Her all-time favorite, not only as a character, but as a man, was John Wayne for his hardnosed honesty, humor, and dedication to America. Tim and Bev had Caroline dedicated to Christ in her infancy. She was a strong believer in Jesus, and along with her children were baptized in 2023, in Lone Lake, at Deer Lagoon, on Whidbey. It was a beautiful event! Besides the numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, she is survived by her parents, Tim and Beverly Johnson (Whidbey Island, WA), husband, David Ethell (Chehalis, WA), brothers, Steve Johnson (Bellingham, WA), Mark Dukart, (Yakima, WA), children, Lilliauna Hunt (Lynden, WA). Caleb Hunt, (Clinton, WA), Grace Ethell (Chehalis, WA), Micah Ethell (Chehalis, WA), father-in-law, Jim Ethell, brother-in-law, Dan Ethell, sister-in-law, Christy (Ethell) Austin, and their children Ainsley, Jade, and Finley Austin, nephews, Jacob Johnson (Yakima, WA), Kelly Dukart, (Yakima, WA), Mark Dukart Jr. (Yakima, WA) nieces, Cady (Johnson) Zivney (Bend, OR), great-nephews, Carsyn Zivney (Bend, OR), Luke Dukart (Yakima, WA), great-nieces, Jade Johnson (Yakima, WA), Lyla Dukart (Yakima, WA), as well as many extended relatives. Caroline's infectious laugh, kind heart, and unwavering love for her family will be missed so much! All family and friends are welcomed to join in a celebration of Caroline's life, on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Brookside Funeral Home (500 W. Prospect Place, Moxee, WA), at 2:00pm.
