Carolyn Kay Stephens

–

Ellensburg, Washington

Carolyn Kay Stephens was a caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on July 28th, 2021, at age 84, in Yakima, WA. Born June 1, 1937, in Kenton, Ohio, she is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Ruth Garmon, Sisters Maxine, Donna Sue, and Connie Garmon and her late husband of 59 years, Claude Stephens.

While living in Ohio, Carolyn met and married her high school sweetheart Claude Stephens. Together, they had 4 children: Jill, Jacque, Scott, and Craig.

In the earlier years of Carolyns life, she graduated beauty school and became a beautician. She loved styling hair and making others feel good.
Carolyn and Claude relocated their family to Washington State in 1966, where they purchased a chicken farm working very hard raising their family together.

In addition to working on the farm Carolyn loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious desserts for her family. Family would gather around the kitchen table for her famous strawberry rhubarb pies, blueberry muffins and blueberry cheesecakes. Whatever you were craving she would be sure to take care of you.

Carolyn is survived by her siblings Audene Koehler, Rowe Garmon (Linda), RuthAnn Richards (Larry), and Max Garmon, as well as her 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

She will be always remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother whose greatest passion was taking care of others.
At Carolyns request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, the family asks that friends and loved ones enjoy their favorite dessert together in her memory.
