Wenatchee, Washington
Cindy Johnson’s life was defined not by grand gestures, but by steady, everyday acts of love. Her unexpected passing leaves behind a wide circle of people who felt seen, supported, and deeply cared for by her.
Born in Omak, Washington, to Bill and Faye Graham, Cindy was the youngest of three girls — which meant she grew up observant, tender-hearted, and comfortable letting others take the first leap. When she was five, the family moved to Wenatchee, the community she would proudly call home for the rest of her life. From her dad, Bill, she inherited empathy and a rare comfort with emotion. From her mother, Faye — a woman ahead of her time — she learned integrity, service, and how to get things done well.
In 1982, Cindy married Skip Johnson and in 1989 they welcomed their son, Colton. Motherhood wasn’t something she did; it was who she was. Cindy’s goal as a mother was to encourage curiosity and confidence, not perfection. Try things. Grow. Keep evolving. And always make sure joy is somewhere in the mix. She found particular joy walking quietly along the fairways as Colton played golf, finding herself at more golf tournaments than most people would voluntarily attend. No matter the “thing,” she showed up — consistently and intentionally — offering reassurance, encouragement, and steady love at every stage of Colton’s life.
Her bond with her sister Jacki was one of the great anchors of her life. Together they shared a connection only sisters can understand — marked by fierce loyalty, deep laughter, and a devotion that endured through every season. They could be sister, friend, therapist, protector, and co-conspirator all at once. In later years, Jacki and her partner Blair naturally folded Cindy into their daily rhythm. She wasn’t an add-on — she was part of the fabric. They shared meals, stories, ordinary days, and extraordinary love.
Cindy cherished her role as mother-in-law and delighted in the life her son and his wife, Kayla, built together. Two families long connected grew even closer through her fierce devotion to her people. Having once been welcomed so fully by her own in-laws, she carried that same generosity forward with ease. Carolee and Darin offered her the gift of belonging, and she received it with deep gratitude.
After losing her mother at a young age, Cindy was deeply grateful for the many years she shared with her mother-in-law, Gwen, whose love became one of the great blessings of her life. Their relationship modeled wholehearted acceptance and expanded her appreciation for motherhood. That same spirit lived on in the sisterhood she shared with her sister-in-law Dena — a friendship rooted in steadfast care and sustained by unwavering support.
Cindy’s maternal heart was expansive. Beyond her own son, she offered perspective, reassurance, and steady presence to cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who found in her someone they could rely on. Her instinct to nurture did not depend on age or title — it was simply who she was.
Cindy retired from the Chelan County Superior Court Clerk’s Office in 2021. After many years serving as a courtroom clerk, she ended her tenure as the Clerk’s Court Facilitator. In that role, she guided families through difficult transitions with patience and compassion. She cared deeply about treating people with dignity and easing burdens wherever she could.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Faye Graham; her in-laws, Frank and Gwen Johnson; her sister, Connie; and her most loyal four-legged companion, Trigger. She is survived by her son Colton and daughter-in-law Kayla; her sister Jacki and brother-in-law Blair; cherished Aunt Mimi; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will carry forward her legacy.
Love deeply. Show up. Be kind.
Her ashes will be spread along the Nā Pali Coast of Kauai — a place where she felt peace, awe, and just a little bit of magic.
Details regarding a local celebration of life will be shared by the family.
