Donna Campbell

Donna Lou (Sperl) Campbell 85

Lifelong Kittitas Valley resident

Donna was born in Ellensburg to Andy and Cleo d Merle Sperl and grew up in the Naneum Road area. She attended Ellensburg schools where she met and later married her beau, Herb "Bud" Campbell.

Upon their marriage she joined her husband at the family farm growing crops, raising beef cattle, and working with draft horses. They with their children, daughter Pam and son Rick, enjoyed winters snowmobiling with friends and family. Summers following Harvest they graced the community with their draft horse competitions at the county fair and pulling wagon in the annual parade, as well as, helping the kids with their 4H projects.

While helping out at the farm and feeding the crews, Donna began her career waitressing for her beloved mentor and lifelong friend Rena Leaton. Donnas career lasted for more than 30 years, all within the same proximity at the Husky House, Leatons, and back at the former Husky House now Sakes Restaurant.

Many of her customers would return annually to be greeted and served by her, knowing that she would always remember their orders from previous visits.

Donna lived a full, active life until her final few days, attending to her cows and calves, caring for many cats (Cat Lady), and her precious dog Cream Puff, with her son and daughter-in-law alongside her.

Her passion was her trips to the casinos with her friends Rena, Millie, Julie, Loretta, Kathy, Evelyn, special friend Harlen and daughter-in-law Melinda. She always seemed to come out even or just a bit ahead- Lucky Charmer!

Donna was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bud Campbell, her parents, Andy and Merle Sperl, and her younger brother Dave Sperl.

Donna is survived by her daughter Pamela (Lee) Taylor Yakima, son Rick (Melinda) Campbell Ellensburg and Alaska, grandchildren Michael (Helene) Boitano Tacoma, Angela (Rob) Bowers Yakima, Lisa Boitano Illinois, Dustin Campbell Alaska, Suny (Rachel) Campbell Alaska, and many great grandchildren, sister Judy Aon Yakima, brother Duane Sperl Yakima, as well as many extended family and friends.
