We said our goodbyes to our sweet "Baby Sis," Elanie Hepzibeth Hernandez "Chili," on February 7, 2023. Our baby had a tragic accident on February 3, 2023, that resulted in her being airlifted to Seattle Childrens Hospital, where she received the best care from the best medical teams in the PICU. We are comforted in knowing that all the medical staff, in Yakima and Seattle, did everything in their power to help her.
Elanie and her twin, Hector, were born to Hector Hernandez and Ashleigh LaVanway on December 21, 2017, in Yakima, Washington. Elanie attended Little Legends from the age of 6 months, until last year. Everyone who met her instantly fell in love with her.
We are so happy that we never held Elanie back from anything. In the short time that she was here, we let her live her life without limits, to the fullest, and do everything any other child her age would do. Despite having an extra chromosome, she lived a normal life, just as her brothers and sisters did. Our belief is that the 21st chromosome is made up of pure love and joy. Our baby girl played hard and loved even harder, and we will never forget how much love, light, and joy she blessed the world with.
Elanie leaves behind her parents, Hector Hernandez and Ashleigh LaVanway, sisters, Anayeli, and Kennedie, brothers, Maikoh, Keilenn, and Hector, grandparents, Lucia Ramos and Bernardino Hernandez, and Evan Doublerunner, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Elanie is preceded in death by her grandma, Ellen Doublerunner, great-grandmothers, Catherine Sampson, and Gregoria Cervantes Yanez.
The family would like to thank Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, EMTs, Airlift Northwest, Seattle Children's Hospital, and Soulumination Photography, and everyone who prayed and supports the family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at 6:00pm, at Brookside Funeral Home (500 W. Prospect, Moxee, WA 98936).
