Freda Mae Dupuis Obituary (2023)

Freda Dupuis, age 95, passed away at home, surrounded by her family, on August 16, 2023, following a short illness. Freda was born on May 25, 1928, to Robert and Florence Calvert, and raised in Wenas Valley. She married Orphy Dupuis on March 11, 1947, and they had six children, Jim, Janice, Charlene, Sharon, Marc, and Jon. When we were kids, Mom taught herself to tool leather. Many belts and wallets were made at the kitchen table. In 1967, she went to work at Western Outfitters, in Yakima. While working at Western Outfitters, Wednesday was her day off, and all her friends and family knew this. Wednesday, August 16, 2023, was truly her last day off. She retired, so her and Dad could travel in their Silverstock Trailer. She loved horses, and when they were gone, she started a new hobby, stained glass. She made many stained glass lampshades and loved that work. Freda is survived by her children, Jan (Huck) Norris, Charlene (Chuck) Paxton, Sharon (Larry) Dupuis Vasquez, and Jon (Robin) Dupuis, one brother, John (Gayle) Calvert, a sister-in-law, Lorraine Calvert, daughters-in-law, Linda Dupuis, and Gina Dupuis, 15 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Orphy Dupuis, sons, Jim Dupuis, and Marc Dupuis, and her brothers, Rollie Calvert, Pat Calvert, and Bob Calvert. Her wishes were no funeral, just a get together at the family home in Moxee. This gathering will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 3:00-5:00pm.
