Howard Dean Fiscus

–

Moxee, Washington

Howard Dean Fiscus passed away peacefully at home on October 1, 2026, at the age of 90. Howard was born on January 22, 1936, in Stratford, Washington, to Henry and Ellen Fiscus.

He spent his childhood and youth living in a few different places, including Cincinnati, Wenatchee, and Prosser. Howard graduated from Prosser High School in 1955. He then went to Nevada, where he served in the U.S. Air Force, as a Buck Sergeant and taught as a survival instructor. He eventually ended up settling down in Yakima, Washington.

On October 3, 1959, Howard married Anna Mary. In 1961, before their first child was born, he started a trucking company, Fiscus Motor Freight. In those early days he worked out of the lot where Old Town Station now stands, hauling a load of hay to the west side every day and not returning home until he had sold it. As the business grew, his children and several of his grandchildren worked alongside him. Howard had an incredibly strong work ethic. He continued to work at the trucking company and drove semi-trucks, until he was diagnosed with cancer at age 88.

Howard and Anna Mary had four children, Bradley, Terry, Kathy, and Michael, along with 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. They loved traveling together, with trips to Hawaii, Yuma, and Disneyland with the kids, yearly trips to Reno, and days spent on the golf course. They enjoyed time on the water in their boat, "The Proud Mary," and the annual Opening Day family fishing trip to Blue Lake, a tradition that lasted more than 50 years. Howard also loved hunting with his sons and cheering on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their sporting events. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 318 in Yakima for many years and served as Exalted Ruler in 1981.

Howard is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Anna Mary, his son, Brad, and his brother, Jim Fiscus. He is survived by his sister, Bette Whale, his brother, Rick Fiscus, his son Brad's wife, Cindy, children, Christina (Rilan and Addyson), Angela (Josh and child Sage), son, Terry Fiscus (Bridget) and children Jené (Seth and children Lukas, Tucker and Millie), Chelsey (Jesse and children Mia, Tristan and Cruz), Brandi (Jerrad and children Phip, Libby and Zola), daughter, Kathy Blanchard (Dale) and children Derek, Dustin (Shayla and child Kinley) and Tricia (Casey and children Hadley and Rhett), and son Michael (Barb) Fiscus and children Kaitlyn, Kevyn (Elizabeth), Kamryn and Avienda.
