Jack Wayne Morris Obituary (2024)

Jack Morris, a resident of Yakima, Washington, passed away at his home, on January 19, 2024. Jack was born in Popular Bluff, Missouri, to Edward "Red" Morris and Myrtle Morris. Jack moved from Missouri to the Yakima Valley soon after his birth. He attended Toppenish High School and then joined the U.S. Army in 1967. He served until 1970. He was deployed to Vietnam from 1968-1969. While serving, he was a heavy equipment operator. After serving in the U.S. Army, he worked in the dairy industry throughout the Yakima Valley. He then worked for KYVE TV, as a master control operator and also did some TV production. He moved on and then worked as a contractor and in real estate. He retired in 2005 from this profession. Jack was a well-loved man. Jack enjoyed meeting new people from every facet of his life, while maintaining old friends from childhood. He enjoyed working in his garden and enjoyed the hot summer days in his backyard. He enjoyed traveling with his family in his truck and trailer around the states. He was an avid sportsman and loved baseball. He never missed a Mariners game. He also coached his son's baseball teams throughout his younger years. He loved his man cave and collecting antiques throughout his years. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Jason Wayne Morris, four sisters, and three brothers. Jack is survived by his wife, Norma Morris, daughter, Jennifer Morris-Umina (Dan), son, Nick Gomez, grandsons, Brycen Geck (Mckenna), Kaden Geck (Kyley), Luciano Sanchez, Marciano Sanchez, his sister, Virginia Morris Heether, brother, Jim Morris, and many nieces and nephews. Jack will be sorely missed by his family and many friends. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 1:00pm, at the Zillah Cemetery (100 1st Ave., Zillah, WA 98953). A Celebration of Life will be held at the Eagles in Toppenish (515 S. Division St., Toppenish, WA 98948) immediately following. Brookside Funeral Home is caring for the family.
