James (Jim) Arthur Warner, 91, of Yakima, Washington, went to his heavenly home on June 5, 2022. He was born on September 28, 1930, in Motley, Minnesota to James Edward and Ruth (Esler) Warner.
Jims family moved to Yakima, Washington when he was six years old. He attended school until the eighth grade, when he left to help with the family farm. From 1951-1953 he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Paris, France during the Korean War where he also earned his GED. While there, he was able to visit many of Europes historical sites.
Jim married his sweetheart, Rosie Ricard, on June 4, 1955, in Yakima, Washington, (one day after her high school graduation) and went to be with her again just one day after what would have been their 67th wedding anniversary. What a celebration that must have been.
Jim was a mechanic for Lloyd Holt before opening his Jims Shell Service Station in 1964. He later worked for Curtis Industries and Cornwell Tools, before taking a job as manager of the OK Tire store in Wapato, Washington. He was forced to retire at the age of 60, due to a heart attack. After he retired, he went to work for Keith and Keith Funeral Home for a short time.
He was a member of Holy Family Parish and enjoyed volunteering for their Volunteer Chore Services Program with his wife, Rose. He is a proud member of the Central Washington Agricultural Museum where he volunteered his time for many events and was a part of the "Tuesday Crew", as he would call them, a group that shows up on Tuesdays to volunteer. In his most recent years, he wasnt able to do some of the physical work but would show up for "coffee time," and occasionally with his baked treats in hand to share. He enjoyed being greeted by Mr. Pibb (his canine grandson), who could tell the sound of Grandpas car as soon as it hit the entrance of the museum grounds. Jim was a member of the American Legion, where he and Rose spent many of their date nights dining and dancing. He continued to enjoy going for Sunday morning breakfast with his kids. Still being a cowboy at heart, he loved horses and his old-time country music and as long as his Mariners werent playing, his music was.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward and Ruth (Esler) Warner, brothers, Virgil Warner, Ralph Warner, and Wesley Warner, sister, Lavanna Hughes and his wife Rose (Rosie) Warner.
Jim is survived by his six children, Jimmy Warner, Karen (Marvin) Beard, Rita (Dwight) Wagenmann, Duane (Karri) Warner, Jerry Warner and Cheryl (David) Stave, nine grandsons and eight great-grandchildren.
