Janice "Jan" Monoian Obituary (1941 - 2025)

Janice "Jan" M. (Bright) Monoian, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025. She was born in Wapato, WA, October 8, 1941, to parents George and Grace Bright. She graduated from Wapato High School in 1959. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Jan worked as an Office Manager in the Medical Profession for 50 years. After she retired, she volunteered at the Larson Gallery for several more years. Beyond her professional life, Jan was a gifted artist. She was recognized in 2001 when she won the Whistling Swan Award from the Yakima Valley Society of Artists. Another passion she enjoyed later in life was hiking. She became a devoted member of the Cascadians Outdoor Recreation Club. Jan was proceeded in death by her parents, her brother Arthur, her husbands Virgil Stover, and John Monoian. Jan is survived by her loving husband of 18 years, Stan Hughes, sister, Linda Babbitt, brothers Marvin Bright (Pam), Melvin Bright (Martha), daughters and husbands, Joy Delorme (David), Diane Musilek (Kelly), her grandsons, Derek Delorme (Jessica), Steven Delorme (Holly), Kyle Musilek (Daralyn), and Kory Musilek. She was a cherished great-grandmother to Logan, Norah, Rhilee, and Trey. A private family gathering was held to celebrate Jan's amazing life. Memorials may be made to the Cowiche Canyon Conservancy, the Yakima Humane Society, or to your favorite charity. The family is being cared for by Brookside Funeral Home.
