Jean Melva Campbell Obituary (2023)

Jean began her journey on March 24, 1943, at St. Elizabeths Hospital, in Yakima, Washington. Born to Melvin and Lucille Dorn, Jean would be the second eldest of four daughters. She graduated from West Valley High School in 1961. She then continued her education in Seattle and became a dental assistant. Jean worked as a dental assistant, and she was the jack-of-all-trades at Dr. Thompsons office for 11 years. Jean became friends with the neighbor boy, Bobby Campbell. After Jean flung her scoop of chocolate ice cream towards Bobbys head, he knew she was the one. They married on October 3, 1964, and lived happily ever after. Jean went on to run a household and raise three children. Time and time again she taught those around her the definition of strength and sacrifice. She was the glue of our family. Jean was an avid reader, collector of all things, skilled seamstress, knitter, quilter, and bedazzler. In her past, she canned fruit and veggies and maintained a large garden. However, her biggest joy in life was her grandchildren. She left this life the way she lived it, surrounded by family and eating chocolate ice cream. Survived by her loving husband, Bob Campbell, children, Jack and Eiko Campbell, Cathy and Greg From, and Sarah Campbell and Jeff Bickley, grandchildren, Madison (Hunter), Maybel, Bobby, Emily, Jaden, and great-grandchild, Jimmy, sisters, Barbara and Janet. She is preceded in death by both parents and her youngest sister, Mary.
