Joannn Mathews-Christopherson-Whitaker-Winegar Obituary (2016)

Joann Matthews-Christopherson-Whitaker-Winegar, age 85, born in Bozeman Montana in 1930 to parents Robert Tilman Matthews and Mary Esther Matthews passed away on Wednesday, January 27th, 2016. The family moved to the Kittitas Valley when Joann was a young girl and she has lived in Ellensburg almost her entire life. Joann was actively involved in Mother's Club, Bridge Club, Sewing Club, Bowling League and Politics. Her passion from the young age of 20 was antiques. She delighted in refurbishing wonderful old furniture, collecting glassware and china, passing that passion to her children. Her home reflected her passion with beautiful antique furniture and an incredible collection of Flow Blue china. Joann had a priceless sense of humor that friends of all ages enjoyed. Her smile and laugh were infectious. Joann is survived by children; Susan Christopherson of Portland, Oregon, twins Dennis Christopherson (Diane Burnett) of Wenatchee, Debbie Skinner of Portland, Oregon and Julie Christopherson (Ed Coxson) of Houston, Texas, grandchildren; Dale, John (Katie) and Christopher Williams, Ryan Christopherson (Becky) and Melee Olson (Ole), great grandchildren; Lacy Williams, Matthew and Joseph Williams and Brady Christopherson, numerous nieces and nephews and Truman Winegar's family who were so caring and gracious to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tim Matthews and Esther Matthews-Harrell-Stevens, her brother Dick Matthews, his wife Maxine Matthews, sister Janiece Cook, her husband Hugh Cook, husband Dale Christopherson, James Whitaker and Truman Winegar. The memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 6th, 2016 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church, 512 North Ruby, Ellensburg, Washington.
