Judith Marie Murphy

–

Moxee, Washington

Judith “Marie” Murphy, 91, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2026, at Yakima Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love and memories of her family.

Marie was born in Arkansas and, in 1945, moved with her siblings to Union Gap, Washington, where they lived in a farm labor camp. It was there that she met the love of her life, JD “Turk” Murphy. They married in 1955 and built a beautiful life together in the Yakima Valley, raising their son, Randy.

Marie worked for The Bon Marché as a Liz Claiborne Sales Associate, where she was always a top achiever in sales. She was hardworking, determined, and had a spirit that could light up a room.

Her faith was a huge part of who Marie was. She carried an amazing spirit throughout her life, even through the challenges she faced, including Alzheimer’s.

Above all else, Marie loved her family like no one else. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was lovingly known as “Granny Goose,” and she truly was the sweetest Grandma anyone could ask for.

Marie leaves behind countless stories and memories that will be treasured forever. One of the family’s favorites was the time she was heading to work, walked out to her car, and discovered a rattlesnake by the door. Without hesitation, she found the biggest rock she could, threw it at the snake, and killed it. The family always joked that God must have been with her on that throw! That was Marie—tough, fearless, and never one to back down.

She was one of a kind, and her family will forever carry her stories, her laughter, her strength, and her love with them. Toughest Granny ever.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, JD “Turk” Murphy; her son, Randy Murphy; her sisters, Fran Masterson and Vicki Kane; and her brothers, Ted “Chuck” Fulks, Jim Fulks, and Dan Fulks.

She is survived by her Daughter-in-law, Deborah Murphy; Sisters Joyce Zimmer and Nicki Forman; Grandson Joshua Murphy and his wife, Samantha Murphy; Great-grandson Greyson Murphy; granddaughter Rachel Murphy; great grandson Keegan Murphy; great-grandson Henri Murphy; great-granddaughter Aspen Murphy; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved her dearly.

Though she is deeply missed, Marie will never be forgotten. Her love, faith, strength, and the memories she created will live on through the generations of her family.

“Footprints in the Sand”

Rest peacefully, Granny Goose. You were loved more than words can say, and you will be missed forever. ❤️
