Kenneth "Ed" Tuggle Obituary (1940

Ed Tuggle died peacefully at home on August 7th, 2026. He was born in Sacramento, California June 2nd, 1940. Immediately after graduating from David Douglas High School, Portland Oregon, Ed went to work for the US Fish & Wildlife at Stevenson, Washington. He was employed there until he was drafted into the Army and served with the 504th Admin Co in Germany. Upon completion of his military service, Ed moved to Seattle, Washington where he met his wife Barbara Agnew. They married in 1969 and he joined the Agnew family. From his first visit to the Wenatchee Valley, Ed’s goal was to live here forever. He applied to student teach in the Wenatchee School District and was assigned to Lewis & Clark Elementary. Upon graduating from the University of Washington, Ed was hired by Wenatchee School District and for the next 10 years taught Special Education at Castlerock School. He earned a Master’s Degree along with a Principal Credential from Central Washington University. His final years in Education were as a Middle School Principal with the Cashmere School District. Ed considered his staff like family during those 19 years as Principal at CMS. He loved his staff and they loved him back. Each of their accomplishments was like his own. Ed enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities but fishing a lake or river early in the morning, any season, was his idea of the best life. He made long lasting memories hiking, rafting and fishing locally, as well as many trips to Alaska and Yellowstone. During retirement Ed joined a group of bicycle riders who provided support for Dr. Farrar and he bonded with that group of special people. Although he could no longer ride, Ed regularly joined the “BTeam” at Pybus for coffee and sharing. Ed and Barbara traveled with cousin Bonnie Jacobs Halousek and her husband Neal on working trips to New York and Las Vegas, vacations to Mexico, biking in Spain, and on a Mediterranean cruise. Ed leaves behind a loving extended family and his beloved cat Sammy. He is survived by his wife Barbara; daughter Amanda and son-in-law Benjamin Burrell; cousins Bonnie Jacobs (Neal) Halousek and Rachel Venable; nieces Sherrie Weum Pritchett, Rachael (Eric) Sterner, Katie (Dave) Zimmerman, Erica (Ben) Crystal, and Eryn Ganong; nephews Daniel Weum and Mitchell (Tyrah) Ganong; great-nieces Alesa Pritchett and Lucia Zimmerman; great-nephews Pryce Pritchett and Aiden Sterner; sisters-in-law Dolly (Richard) Buckingham, Nancy Agnew, Rita (Allen) Agnew-Tom, and Randi (Wayne) Ganong. Ed was proceed in death by his parents; sister Patricia Weum Greene; and sister-in-law Viola Agnew. In accordance with Ed’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
