Margaret Heather Knight

Moxee, Washington

In Loving Memory of Margaret H. Knight "Heather"

Margaret Heather Knight, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend, passed away after a fierce and unwavering battle with cancer. She met every hardship with extraordinary resilience and quiet grace, never ceasing to share the warmth and love that defined her. Heather's compassionate heart, boundless strength, and deep devotion to those she loved left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her presence was a blessing, and her legacy will continue to uplift and guide us.

Born on January 27, 1979, in Yakima, WA, Heather was the cherished youngest of five children born to Horace (Bob) and Ann Patton. From the very beginning, she brought joy and light into her family's life with her bright smile and loving spirit. Growing up surrounded by siblings who adored her, Heather quickly became the heart of the home -- full of laughter, curiosity, and a deep love for those around her.

Heather's bond with her siblings was a constant source of strength and comfort throughout her life. She shared a special closeness with Virginia Wiley and her husband Robert, Merita Sletten and her partner Larry Appling, Robert Patton, Jason Patton, and Trevor Patton and his wife Sharlene. Each of them played a meaningful role in her journey. Robert Patton showed quiet devotion, always putting Heather's needs before his own. Virginia was her rock, a caring, unwavering, nurturing, and tough-minded sister. Trevor brought his warmth, patience, and a sense of normalcy -- always offering a listening ear and an open heart, reminding Heather of the everyday comforts that steadied her during difficult times. Jason brought out Heather's wild side, encouraging her spontaneity, feeding her joy for life, and adding to her playful spirit and unforgettable sense of humor.

Merita, especially, held a unique place in Heather's life. More than a sister, she was a confidante -- the one person Heather could count on for unfiltered truth, heartfelt encouragement, and unconditional love. Their bond was rooted in deep trust and mutual admiration, a connection that supported Heather through both joyful celebrations and life's hardest challenges.

Heather found joy in life's simplest moments -- whether working on her diamond art, floating peacefully down the river, or just sitting close with the people she loved most. She was the heart and soul of every gathering, making sure every BBQ was full of warmth, every birthday was special, and every laugh was shared from the heart. Her love for dolphins reflected her own gentle, playful spirit. She often dreamed of walking along the beach, toes in the sand, waves lapping nearby, and her family beside her.

She leaves behind a legacy of deep, unconditional love. Heather is survived by her husband, Nathan Knight, and her cherished children: Niccolas Knight; Jeremy Smith and his partner Chrystal Chavez and their daughter Avah, whose laughter always brought her joy; Madison Sletten and Caleb Dorcheus, whose presence brought her peace and comfort; Cassie Knight and her partner Jayda Davis, with whom Heather shared a special, unbreakable bond; Dana Rose Guillen and her husband Matthew, along with their daughters Hazel and Mia, who lit up Heather's world; and Jonathan Knight. Heather is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly and who brought her great happiness throughout her life.

Being a parent was one of Heather's greatest joys, and she did her best with what she had. Heather wasn't a perfect parent -- none of us are -- but she loved with all her heart. Her love showed in the ways she showed up, even when life was hard. Through her flaws and strengths, she taught resilience, loyalty, and the value of being real. Her children were loved, not by grand gestures, but by the little things, the laughter, and the shared stories. In the end, her love, imperfect and honest, was exactly what made it unforgettable.

Heather was deeply grateful for the constant support of her dear friend Max Renecker during her life. Through every joy and hardship, Max was a steady presence -- offering strength, comfort, and loyalty. His unwavering friendship brought her peace, laughter, and the reassurance that she was never alone, especially at the end of her life.

Beyond her kindness and strength, Heather possessed an infectious humor that could brighten even the dullest day. She was fun-loving and full of life -- even starting water fights in the house that left everyone laughing. Her sense of humor was a treasure to everyone who knew her. She had a way of laughing so hard that she would nearly fall off the couch -- and if you were in the room, you were laughing too. Christmas was especially meaningful to Heather; she poured her heart into making the holidays magical, ensuring her children felt the warmth of her love in every thoughtful gift and joyful tradition.

Heather is preceded in death by her parents, Horace (Bob) and Ann Patton, and her brother, Jason Patton.

Heather was a woman who loved deeply and was loved just as fiercely in return. Her life was a testament to the power of family, friendship, and unconditional love. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the laughter she shared, the kindness she showed, and the love she gave so freely.

May she rest in peace, forever surrounded by the warmth of the love she so selflessly gave.

Her Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
