Marilyn Faye Immel Obituary (2024)

Marilyn Faye Immel, aged 80 years old, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, to be with her Lord on March 16th, 2024. She was born on September 21, 1943, in Stillwell Oklahoma to Paul Laverne and Alcy Alyene Campbell. She is survived by her loving husband Don Herman Immel, her children Victor (Monika) Immel of Yakima, Faye (Tim) Fulton of Yakima, and Kimberly Cooper of Yakima, ten grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Marilyn graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1962. She resided in Yakima all her adult life, marrying Don in 1964. They were blessed to have 60 years together. Marilyn cared for her family and helped with the family businesses. In 1977, Marilyn was a pioneer, helping to start up a girls soccer league and becoming a coach. Up to that time, Yakima had never had a girls soccer league. She enjoyed coaching and would be the first to admit that "Its more fun for me than the girls!" After raising her children, Marilyn realized her dream of helping other children learn. In the 1990s she began working at Union Gap school, alongside her daughter Faye, as a para educator. There she was able to help students gain proficiency in reading through the Read Right program. Marilyn enjoyed her grandchildren, music, reading, writing, painting, and playing tennis. Tennis was a lifelong passion that she played until her health wouldnt allow her. The whole family grew up playing tennis together, and in 1998, Marilyn and her daughter Faye coached the IKE girls tennis team to a state championship. The team went undefeated for the entire season, winning many awards. Marilyn was an amazing woman who has touched many lives. She is deeply loved and we look forward to the day when we will see her again. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Alcy Campbell, her brother Earl Campbell, and her two sisters Cherry Martinez and Linda Cochenour, as well as her son-in-law Ken Cooper. There will be a viewing from 4-7pm on Thursday March 21st, 2024, held at Brookside Funeral Home, (500 Prospect Rd, Moxee, WA 98936). A Memorial Service will be held Saturday March 23rd, 2024, at Yakima Alliance Church (902 S. 36th Ave, Yakima, WA 98902) at 9:30 am. A Graveside service will then take place at West Hills Memorial Park (11800 Douglas Road Yakima, WA 98909), followed by a Celebration of Life gathering at the Elks country club (318 Golf Course Loop Rd, Selah, WA 98942).
