Mark Robert Glaspey Obituary (1944

Mark Robert Glaspey was born in Yakima, Washington on October 12, 1944 to Robert and Loraine Glaspey. He had an older brother, Kent Williams, an older sister, Sybil Purvis and a younger sister, Shelley Withem, all who are deceased. Mark attended school in Yakima, graduating from Eisenhower High School. He loved playing football throughout his school years and was captain of the football team his senior year in 1963. After graduating from high school, Mark spent one year at Western Baptist Bible College in Oakland, CA (now called Corban University). He then attended Seattle Pacific College (now Seattle Pacific University), graduating with a B.S. degree in Political Science. On August 26, 1966, Mark married Carolyn Coke, also a graduate of Seattle Pacific College. Mark and Carolyn returned to Seattle Pacific in 1967 and completed teaching degrees after which they returned to Yakima and Mark taught at Lewis and Clark Middle School for three years. He was dearly loved by his students. Mark and Carolyn had their first daughter, Deanne in 1969, a second daughter, Nancy in 1971 and a third daughter, Jill in 1974. In 1974, Mark left teaching and started working for a swimming pool contractor. He eventually ended up going into a partnership with him and formed G&T Pool Company. G&T Pools was a successful pool company up until Mt. St. Helens erupted in 1980 and brought the swimming pool business to a screeching halt. Mark moved his family to Ketchikan, Alaska in 1985 where he ended up working as the Finance Manager for Taquan Air, a floatplane business in Southeast Alaska, which grew to be a large and successful operation. Taquan Air was later sold to another company which brought in its own management team. In 2001, Mark and Carolyn moved to Anchorage, Alaska where Mark worked for several businesses as a financial officer, eventually ending up at Alaska Municipal League Joint Insurance Association where he was the Chief Financial Officer, a job he dearly loved. Mark always had a very strong work ethic and was highly respected by those he worked under and those he worked with. He also had a very deep love for his family and did everything he could to demonstrate that love to them. At the end of November 2015, Mark suffered a stroke that left him unable to continue working. Having to retire at that point, Mark and Carolyn returned to Yakima, WA in 2016. Mark was able to live at home since then. At the beginning of August 2025, his health began to deteriorate rapidly, and he started hospice care. He was able to make it through November, ten years from the date of his stroke. He was 81 when he passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025. We are all heartbroken to have to let him go, but we are rejoicing that he is no longer suffering and that he is home with his Savior and reunited with his loved ones who have gone on before him. Mark is survived by his wife, Carolyn Glaspey, Deanne (Kevin ) Hack, grandkids Michaela (Trevor) Wills and Saylor Hack.
