Marlene Ann Brong Obituary (2023)

Marlene A. Brong (ne Lindauer) of Ellensburg, Washington, died September 20, 2023, while at Pacifica Assisted Living. Marlene was born November 2, 1940, in Brooks, Oregon, to Herman and Lillian Lindauer (ne Anderson). She lived her early years with her farming family in the fertile lands of Oregon and Washington before attending Central Washington University, in Ellensburg, to study business. It was in Ellensburg where she met her future husband, Jerry. They were married in 1960. After leaving Ellensburg, Marlene and Jerry moved to Pullman where they started a family and had two sons, Chris and Richard. In the 1970s, Marlene worked as a professional typist and had some of the fastest fingers on the planet with her IBM Selectric. She then progressed into professional typesetting and printing at a local printing business in Pullman. In 1980, Marlene and Jerry opened a retail computer business where Marlene was the chief manager of the business. After the closure of that business, Marlene and Jerry moved back to Ellensburg in 1990. Marlene continued to work in management for a local grocery retailer before her eventual retirement. Those who knew Marlene knew her as a kind and gentle soul who loved music, art, animals, and cooking. She was exceptionally resourceful and intelligent and could make the worst of situations fruitful (a pun on her amazing canning abilities). In her family, Marlene was the head of the house. Outside of home, she often volunteered for various organizations and events in and around Ellensburg and enjoyed attending community events, especially musical performances. She was her childrens biggest fan and a good grandmother. Marlene will be missed. Marlene is survived by her two children, Chris and Richard.
