Matthew S. Ness
May 8, 1968 October 29, 2022
Matthew (Matt) S. Ness was born on May 8, 1968 in Seattle, WA to Ted and Lauria Ness. Even at birth, he brought smiles, as the doctor weighed him in at a healthy 9lbs 3oz! Matt was the second boy, of five children. He was preceded in death by his father, in 2019, and is survived by his mother, Lauria Ness, by his wife Lisa Ness, and by her three children Bailey, Dax, and Karley Bowell; by his two sons, Tanner and Trey Ness and by his brother, Ted, and his sisters, Kecia, Kiana, and Katrice.
Matt grew up a happy, rough and tumble boy, that loved his family and brought immense happiness to others. He took pride in working with his Dad on building sites or on home projects. This training instilled an excellent work ethic in him, a gift that he carried throughout his life. He was raised as one of Jehovahs Witnesses and viewed the congregation as his extended family. He dedicated his life in baptism on January 5, 1986. Through the ups and downs of his life, he continually worked at building and maintaining his relationship with Jehovah.
During his high school years, Matt worked at the Maltby Caf with his lifelong friend, Todd Kahl. As you can imagine, there are many legendary stories from those early years. Matt graduated from Bothell High School in 1986, and shortly thereafter, began the IBEW electrical apprenticeship program with Elcon Electric. He turned out as a WA01 Journeyman Electrician in 1992. While working at Major Electric he was introduced to the cellular wireless industry. Through the years, he forged strong relationships with the people he worked with. In 2013, he began working as a Construction Manager at T-Mobile. It was no secret that Matt was passionate about his work and production schedule. He had a deep desire to see the entire team succeed. Matt was the first to admit, that he was not a shirt and tie guy, he preferred being in the trenches and working hard with his team. He was grateful for the many friends that helped him to advance in his career, and wanted to pass that tradition along to the next generation.
Despite a heavy workload, Matt always had time and energy for his family and friends and loved his sons immensely. He tried to instill in them a desire to love and serve their heavenly Father, Jehovah, and imitate his son, Christ Jesus. Matt also had the time, love, and energy to convince Lisa Bontempo to marry him on 2/20/20. Lisa affectionately referred to Matt as, "my love" and always helped him find the positive in the negative. They met 30 years ago as young kids and reconnected later in life resulting in a blossoming relationship that turned into marriage. Matt had a huge heart filled with enough love to share with everyone so much so, that when Matt and Lisa got married, without hesitation, he accepted her three children as his own and shared his love with them, along with his own two sons. Together they were a blended family and lived a full and rewarding life. Lisa & Matt attended the North Woodinville Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses, active in their Christian ministry and volunteer work and always had time for randomly dropping in on friends!
All who knew Matt, agree that he would do absolutely anything for someone he cared about. Nothing made him happier than making someone else smile, no matter the time or cost.
Matts quick wit, and his sense of humor, always had the family laughing. He had a gift for finding humor in the darkest situations. It is the familys sincere hope that your good memories of Matt will comfort you until Jehovah fulfills his promise to bring him back to us, a healthy, energetic man.
