Mavis Ferne Heath Obituary (2024)

Ferne Heath celebrated her 101st birthday with family and friends on February 24, 2024. She passed away peacefully on March 12, 2024. Ferne Hallman Heath was born on February 24, 1923, near Lake Andes, South Dakota. She moved with her family to the Moxee area in 1937. Ferne married Walter, the love of her life, on August 17, 1944. Together, they raised two children, JoHanna and Bill. Ferne and Walter were together for 68 years, until his passing. She was thrilled with and enjoyed three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was blessed with a bright, cheerful, inquisitive attitude, and a wonderful sense of humor. Ferne was schooled at St. Elizabeth Nursing and retired from a career in nursing. Ferne's long life can be attributed to a dedication to her faith along with that loving, selfless and giving nature she displayed. She was a shining light to all who knew her. She has always been there for her family and friends. Ferne has been an absolute treasure and is missed. Ferne is survived by her brother, Donnie (Jeanette), daughter, Johanna, son, Bill (Patty), grandchildren, Jesse, Laura, Joe (Chelsie), great-grandchildren, Lyla, Jessa, and Sophie, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ferne's family wishes to extend gratitude to her wonderful neighbors and those many longtime friends who were there for her, providing care and support in her final days.
