Michalina Zrebiec Obituary (1921

Michalina Zrebiec passed away peacefully on October 22, 2018 at home in Cle Elum, WA, at the age of 97. She was born on January 1, 1921, in Lomazy, Poland, to Filipe and Alexsandra Matusiewcz. She was the third of 5 children. Michalina spent her younger years in Poland and Germany during WWII, as a domestic worker to German military families and eventually for an American family after the war. She came to Ellensburg in 1949 and met Walter Zrebiec. They married in June of 1950 in Cle Elum and had 3 children; Helene, Regina, and Joe. In addition to raising her family, she worked for many years at the Sunset Caf. She was a great cook who loved her garden, mushroom picking, and berry picking. She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and Polish Lodge. She is survived by her daughters, Regina Zrebiec, Helene Anderson, and son, Joe (Susan). She is also survived by grandsons Corey and Colton Anderson and Tyler Zrebiec, niece Lorna Neimantsverdriet, and sister Stefania, and nieces and nephews in Poland. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, infant daughter Jean, son-in-law Tony Anderson, grandson Conner, and sisters Paulina, Aneila, and an infant brother. The family would like to thank Tatiana for her love and care for their Mother. Recitation of the Rosary will be Friday, October 26 at 6:00 pm, at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cle Elum. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 27 at 10:00 am at St. John's Catholic Church, followed by graveside services at Laurel Hill Memorial Cemetery. The family would like to invite everyone back to the church for fellowship and sharing of special memories you each hold. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Michalina's honor to the Cle Elum Fire District or EMT Services.
