Nancy Ann (Voelker) Rew, 59, of Yakima, went home to dance with the Lord, Friday, January 15, 2016 at Cottage in the Meadow surrounded by her loving family.
Nancy was born September 14, 1956 in Las Cruces, New Mexico to Joe David and Frankie (Martinez) Tate. Nancy was raised by her parents, John and Frankie Voelker. As a child, the family moved to Yakima where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Davis High School in 1974, where she was actively involved with the Youth Conservation Corps. That is where Nancy learned to love being in the outdoors, especially being in the mountains hiking and fishing. Nancy joined the U.S. Army in 1974 where she was one of the first group of women that was allowed to be in the Army. She served for four years and was Honorably Discharged December, 1978. She then served two years in the Army National Guard from 1978 until 1980 when she was Honorably Discharged.
She attended Yakima Valley College and graduated from Christian Life Educators Network where she obtained her Bachelors of Theology. Nancy loved being with her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed traveling and going to the beach. Nancy was a hard worker and enjoyed the physical work that each job entailed. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
