Olivia Lucille Lawrence Obituary (2023)

Olivia Lucille (Craig) Lawrence was called home to the Lord on Sunday, October 22, 2023. Olivia was born on March 21, 1949, in Toppenish, Washington, to Forest P. Craig and Evelyn Lucille (Harvey) Craig. She grew up in Wapato, Washington, graduating in the class of 1967. Olivia loved playing basketball in high school, always bragging in later years about playing both offense and defense on the 6-player court. After high school, she married the love of her life, Donald LeRoy Lawrence, on July 15, 1967. They built a loving life together for 57 years. Olivia attended Wapato Beauty School and worked as a professional hairdresser for 37 years, before moving to a semi-retired role when Marj's Beauty Shop burned down. She continued to work out of her own kitchen and many other kitchens cutting, coloring, perming, and styling hair until the day she died. Mom took care of all her grandkids, getting them ready for school, making them breakfast, waiting for the bus, and anything else to help her daughters. Her favorite past time was supporting her grandkids do what they loved, sports. You would find her sitting in the stands at soccer, basketball, volleyball, and softball games, cheering for her grandkids, most often, screaming at the refs. She also loved going to Yakima Meadows and Emerald Downs to watch her horses run every year. In her semi-retirement, her weekly ritual included attending Senior Tuesday at Legends Casino in Toppenish with her husband. Olivia has been an active, long-time loyal member of the First Baptist Church of Wapato. A strong woman of faith, Olivia was diagnosed with colon cancer in December 2019. With her strength, and support of prayer warriors, she overcame cancer in 2021. Olivia is survived by her husband, Don, her three daughters, Kimberly Walsh, Karissa Lawrence (Ruben), Kerrie Fries (Nicholas), and six grandchildren, Kortney, Kelsee, Madison, Allison, Emma, and Cameron. She is also survived by her siblings, Sylvia Gott, James Craig (Betty), and several nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. Olivia is preceded in death by her mother and father, her in-laws, Eula Lawrence and Dallas Lawrence, and her brothers-in-law, Gary Lawrence, Dallas Jr. Lawrence, and Henry (Hank) Gott. A Viewing will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 4:00-7:00pm, at Brookside Funeral Home (500 W. Prospect Pl., Moxee, WA). A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 11:00am, at the First Baptist Church of Wapato, followed by Graveside Service at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. A Reception Dinner will follow at the Wapato Baptist Church.
