Paul Allen Freeman Obituary (2025)

Paul Allen Freeman Paul Freeman, 68, of Yakima, Washington, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 11, 2025. He was born on July 19, 1957, in Glendale, California. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Charlotte Freeman. Survivors include his loving wife of twenty-nine years, Charlene Freeman, stepdaughter Elisabeth Otten of Del Mar, California, stepson Michael Halcrow of Belview, Washington, stepson Patrick Halcrow of Poway, California, three step-grandchildren, as well as numerous cousins. Paul attended Pasadena Community College where he received training and certification in HVAC. After working in the construction industry for a number of years, he became employed by the Lancaster School District in Lancaster, California. He worked in the Facilities Department where he was responsible for obtaining equipment and parts needed by the Maintenance, Grounds, and Custodial staff to service the seventeen schools in the district. Paul took pride in being known as "the guy who got things done." One of the great joys of retired life for Paul was the freedom to travel, and his favorite destination was Tuscany, Italy. He and his wife, Charlene, went there in 2023, 2025, and were planning another trip for October of 2026. He often commented that he never felt quite at home as much as he did while in Italy. Since retirement Paul developed an interest in remote-controlled cars. He loved testing the limits of his Jeep's climbing abilities. Paul also enjoyed playing ping pong with friends at the Harman Senior Center, where his reputation for slamming the ball made him a challenging opponent. One of Paul's favorite summer activities was exploring local lakes and rivers with his kayak. He spent many hours researching on Google Maps to find places he wanted to go with his kayak. During Paul's many years of living in the Mojave Desert in California, his favorite outdoor activity was exploring the desert on his Schwinn Mountain bike. He often reflected on those long rides when it was just him, his bike, and the desert, which he loved. Another of Paul's passions was music. Over time he put together an excellent stereo system. His preference for music was LP albums, but he did have a collection of CDs. It gave him great pleasure to share his music with guests who shared his appreciation. When Paul wasn't participating in his hobbies, he enjoyed being home, where he maintained the yard and gardens, read his favorite magazines, and kept in shape with weight training. He was passionate about protecting and conserving the earth's resources so he was always conscious of his ecological footprint. Paul was a loyal, loving husband and friend who will be missed by many.
