Reta M. Hutchinson of Thorp, Washington, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026.
Reta was 92 years old and had lived her entire life in Thorp, born and raised there she would say. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She gave tirelessly to her family and community. She was a woman of God, who believed in helping others and was always willing to give of her time and resources wherever needed.
Throughout her life, she worked and owned her own insurance agency and sold real estate, making many friends and relationships for life. She never met a stranger. She also worked on the family farm in Thorp, doing what farm wives do, branding, baling, cooking, and canning for her family.
She was definitely a hard-working woman, who took pride in her community and family, making sure all were taken care of. She was always making a difference in the lives of others.
She is survived by her son Glen Hutchinson, daughter, Jackie (Jeff) Brunson, granddaughter, Carla (Josh) Shelton, grandson, Dusty (Jessica) Hutchinson, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Richard Hutchinson, her parents, Gordon and Vida Bennett, her sister, Jeanne Gordon, and her brother, Hugh Bennett.
Her family and all who knew her will remember her for the countless ways she gave of herself. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, generosity, and hard work.
Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the many prayers, kind words, and expressions of sympathy that we have received during this time.
A Celebration of her Life will be held on Friday August 28, 2026, at 2:00pm, at Mercer Creek Church, in Ellensburg.
