Robert Edwin Fisher Obituary (2024)

Robert Edwin Fisher, 78, died at home on March 7th, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born in Selah, WA, on December 4, 1945, and graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1964. After high school, he enrolled at CWU and served in the army from 1965 to 1968, where he was stationed in Panama. Fisher returned to Central after he was discharged from the army, where, as he put it, he earned "196" credits of almost everything." He pursued many extracurricular activities, served a year as student body presiddent, and met lifelong friends Art and Susi. Fisher moved to Seattle after college where he worked in the marine industry and honed his craft as a wooden boat builder. He spent many years throwing darts, sailing with friends, and building small craft including a miniature tugboat. Eventually, he met his wife, Kristin and her then 3-year-old daughter Kim. It didnt take long for them to become a family Kristin and Fisher were married in 1988. Ellen was born in Seattle, and Corrie in Ellensburg, when the family moved home. He worked as a custom cabinet maker for the next 20 years, leaving his craftsman touch on hundreds of kitchens and businesses in the Kittitas Valley. When Fisher wasnt working or chasing the kids around, he was active in the community lending his skills and time to organizations including First Lutheran Church, Habitat for Humanity, the kids schools, and countless others. Fisher was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Darold Ringer and Gordon and Luella Fisher. He is survived by his wife, Kristin; children Kim (Aaron), Ellen (Evan), and Corrie; grandson Asher; and siblings Carol, Bob, Gary, Shirley, and Cathy.
