Our beloved, Robert Glenn Cunningham, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2024 at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family and close friends. He was diagnosed on May 22, 2024 with a rare, aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Glenn was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, and friend whose faith in God shaped every aspect of his life. Glenn was born on January 14, 1943 in Dallas, TX to Sarah and Azell Cunningham. He grew up in Dallas, and after high school, he worked for Texas Instruments, where he became friends with Ray Wells, a Christian pastor. Ray was instrumental in leading Glenn, at age 20, to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Shortly thereafter, his parents did the same. After attending the Kiamichi Mountains Christian Men's Clinic in Oklahoma, he felt called to the Christian ministry and began serving in various ways at his home church, Eastwood Christian Church, in Dallas. Several years later, at age 24, he met his wife of 56 years, Cathy, while they were both working with Jr high kids at different churches. They knew right away that God had brought them together, and they made a commitment to God and each other and were married a short 4 months later, January 14, 1968. They found their greatest commonality in their shared hope and faith in Jesus Christ and this was the foundation of everything they would do in life from that point on. Immediately after their marriage, they became the volunteer youth directors at Glenn's home church in Dallas, while both worked at Texas Instruments. Several years later, they were blessed with their only child, Traci. Glenn was ordained into the Christian ministry in 1975. He attended Dallas Christian College and also Hope International University in CA. In 1978, Glenn accepted a position as Sr pastor for a Christian Church in So CA, and later served churches in AZ, IN, and OR before retiring in 2014 and moving to Ellensburg, WA in February, 2015. Glenn is survived by his loving wife, Cathy, daughter, Traci Tegman (Dan), grandson, Gunnar, and granddaughter, Brynn. His legacy of faith, love, and service will continue through them and the many lives he impacted throughout his ministry. He prayed daily for his family, friends, church, and nation. We take comfort in knowing that Glenn is now in the loving arms of his Savior. Glenn's life verse was Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths." If you are reading or hearing this obituary, and you haven't accepted Jesus as your Savior yet, Glenn would say, "Why not?" He wants you in Heaven with him! "For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).
