Robert Gordon Kautzman Obituary (2024)

Robert "Bob" Gordon Kautzman, 86, passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of our Lord surrounded by his loving family on May 17, 2024. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Bob was born in Yakima, the son of Ralph and Virginia Kautzman. He moved to Bremerton with his family at a young age and later moved back to Yakima where he attended Yakima High School. He was drafted into the Army in 1960 and was there for four years. He married Pauline Patnode in 1963 and had two children. He was still married to Pauline at the time of his death. Bob worked for Stephen's Metal Products for two years, then Robinson's Heating. From there he worked at Valley Neon then Heath Signs where he worked for 34 years until he retired. In his younger days, Bob was a member of the Playboy Car Club which paved the path of many years being a classic car enthusiast. Lots of weekends were spent going to car shows with his 1927 Model T Roadster that he built when he was 19 years old. He also had an array of collections including pop bottles, hydroplane buttons, and Coca-Cola memorabilia. His favorite hobby was his model airplanes and engines. He had an extensive collection. He also went to numerous control line flying competitions starting at the age of 14 and won many awards. Bob was an extremely talented person. He was a fabricator perfectionist and was known for his work. We always said, "he could make anything." He built a beautiful family home where he lived until the time of his death. There wasnt anything that he couldnt do for his family. We kept him busy with lots of projects. He is survived by his wife, Pauline, of Yakima, two daughters Cherie (Chuck) Vetsch and Ann (Bryan) Hille, and two grandchildren Nickole Hille and Clinton Vetsch. Special thanks to Hope Bridge and Multicare Home Hospice for taking such good care of him while he was home. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 10:00am at Holy Family Catholic Church, in the Chapel. A Luncheon will follow the mass in Murtagh Hall.
