Roberto P. GUTIERREZ JR Obituary (2024)

Roberto Gutierrez, 77, passed away on December 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Yakima. He was born on March 6, 1947, in Allende, Coahuila, Mexico, to Roberto and Victoria Gutierrez. Roberto moved with his family to Texas at an early age. The family later moved to Washington permanently. Roberto was hardworking and furthered his education to provide a better life for his family. He began his career with the State of Washington Department of Social and Health Services and held several positions in his 38 years of service. He retired as an Administrator in March 2012. Roberto enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He loved spending time with his family. His humor and playful sarcasm with everyone will surely be missed. He was very knowledgeable and could talk to anyone about various topics. Roberto was kind, caring and willing to help anyone in need. He was a good listener and his children and many others would often go to him for his sound advice. He was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Roberto is survived by his children, Diana (Rick) Rangel, Rosa (Jessie) Rangel, Laura (Martin) Saldana, Roberto Gutierrez III, Hope (Aniceto) Sanchez, Dominic (Ashley) Gutierrez and Stefanie (Edgar) Penaloza. He is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Siblings, Maria (Eddie) Esparza, Victor Gutierrez, Norma (Martin) Sabala, Dora Gutierrez, Ricardo (Mary) Gutierrez, Lydia (Jim) Skinner, Martha Gutierrez. Numerous nieces and nephews. Roberto was preceded in death by his parents Roberto and Victoria Gutierrez, nephews David Gutierrez and Nicholas Gutierrez, niece Rebecca Gutierrez, his grandparents, several aunts, uncles and cousins. A Viewing will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, from 2:00pm-5:00pm. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 5:00pm, at Brookside Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 1:00pm. Refreshments will follow in the church hall.
