Roger Blucher Hart Obituary (2025)

Roger B. Hart, 86, passed away peacefully, on March 18, 2025, at the family home in Moxee, Washington, with family at his side. A lifelong resident of the Yakima Valley, Roger was born on November 3, 1938, in Sunnyside, Washington. From November 1955 through September 1959, Roger proudly served in the United States Navy for three years, ten months, and twenty-nine days. During his service, he completed multiple cruises aboard the amphibius flagship USS Mount Mckinley. His time in the Navy instilled in him a deep sense of discipline and commitment that remained with him throughout his life. Roger led a life defined by quiet strength, humility, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. He went to college at night and worked through an electrical apprenticeship during the day with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He was a 56-year member of IBEW and retired out of local 77. He worked for several decades as a journeyman electrician at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, retiring in 2001. His work ethic and skill were matched only by his ability to fix or repair just about anything, a talent that served in both his profession and personal life well. Roger married Marjorie Wolford on January 3, 1966, and shared over 59 years of marriage. Yes, he married a barrel racer! Together, they built not only a home, literally constructed with their own hands alongside their children, but also a life rooted in love, hard work, and shared purpose. Not only did Roger work full time, he also helped his wife raise cattle, sometimes over 200 head a year. He enjoyed this so much, he'd say "this doesn't seem like work!" Sometimes, he also found time to take the family camping, to the ocean, and fishing. He was a huge influence in instilling a strong work ethic in his two children. When asked, he would say he would do it all over again. Roger was known to kick a tire or two, he had a particular passion for working on vintage cars and took pride in restoring them from the ground up. As a volunteer firefighter, he gave back to his community with the same quiet determination that characterized every aspect of his life. Those who knew Roger will remember his great smile, a reflection of the warmth beneath his reserved demeanor, and his steadfast presence as a husband, father, grandfather, colleague, and friend. Roger's wishes to remain at home with loved ones through his final journey were made possible by the compassionate and professional care he received through the Energy Employees Home Health Services and Heartlinks Hospice. Roger is survived by his wife, Marjorie, son, Russell, daughter, Suzanne and four very loved grandchildren. He is also survived by his ornery tailless cat, Willie.
