Sadie Ellen Heckart Obituary (2023)

At the exact moment of sunrise our darling Sadie entered her heavenly home, met by her Savior and those loved ones who passed before. She was born in Grandview, Idaho, at their small home on the desert prairie, where she lived for nine years. She and her family moved to Yakima, directly across the street from Donna Walker, who became her sister-in-law and remained her best friend for over 70 years. In 1947, her brother, Lynn, brought a friend home to have dinner with the family. That friend was Charles Heckart. He was quite taken with Sadie, his polar opposite. After much convincing on his part, they married in 1948 and remained so, until dad's passing in 2016. Mom and Dad purchased their home and remained for over 60 years, making it a true family home. Together they built a successful business until dad became unable to continue due to his illness. Mom, always ready for travel, saw Rome, London, Paris, Mexico, Canada, Hawaii. Her grandchildren, A.J. and Shannon, made it possible for her and other family members to travel to New York and Alaska on a wonderful cruise. Her final trip was on a boat ride up the Columbia with her family and friends. Mom loved Jesus and lived her life accordingly. She was kind, generous, forgiving, loving, and always there to support those with any problem. Sadie loved shopping, reading, antiquing, gardening, decorating for holidays, and providing a place for large family dinners with the family she created. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chuck," parents, Dorothy and Henry Jewett, siblings, Dorthy Dorchak, Marjorie Hatch, Lynn Jewett, Michael Jewett, Goldie Jewett, best friend, Donna Walker, and her beloved granddaughter, Heidi McClaskey. She is survived by her children, Anthony "Tony" Heckart (Cheryl), Rebecca "Becky" Bond (Bobby), grandchildren, Anthony "A.J." Heckart (Shannon), Jim Bond (Becky), Jason Bond (Mackenzie), Candice Heckart, and Heather Heckart, great-grandchildren, Dr. Victoria Schroder (Tyler), Jacob Lamarche (Kim), Chase Heckart, Zachary Heckart, Joshua LaMarche (Trinity), Hannah, Brooke, Rowan, and Finnegan Bond, and great-great-grandchildren, Blake and Zane Schroder. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and much extended family. A special thanks to all those who treated and cared for mom. Jason, you were indispensable, and her niece, Claudia King, for everything. Please feel free to donate to any charity of your choosing, send flowers, or just take a friend to lunch.
