Sharon Arlene SMITH Obituary (2025)

Sharon Arlene Smith (Hogie) of Yakima, Washington passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the age of 82, at Landmark Care Center. Sharon was born in Coeur' d'Alene, Idaho on August 26, 1942, to Edward Earl and Bessie Eva Hogan. Sharon spent her younger years in the Lewiston, Idaho area and attended the Ursuline Academy in Moscow, Idaho. While there she met her lifelong friends, Sammy Ryan, Kathy Potts, and Susie Tanner. She married Dick Morgan as a teenager and then quickly divorced him. She then married Walter M. Eardley and had three children, Angie Anguiano, Billie Parke, and Trask Eardley. They later divorced and she married Glen West of Leavenworth, Washington. They had one daughter, Heather West. They divorced and then Sharon met and married Richard C. Smith. Sharon received her initial nursing LPN license from Everett Community College. She returned to school and received her bachelor's degree in nursing and became a Registered Nurse specializing in Rehabilitation. Sharon was a very humble and loving wife, mom, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She loved her family and instilled the importance of family. She loved without judging and quietly but firmly guided her children to adulthood. Sharon was the kindest, most wonderful person. She treated others the way she would like to be treated, with love, kindness, respect and dignity. She loved to go camping and was an avid gardener and hiker. She hiked with the Yakima Cascadian's and several close friends. Every year they would take a week and pick an area to travel to and hike. She hiked the Enchantments in the Leavenworth area, the Washington Rain Forest, Mt. Rainier, Snoqualmie Pass, parts of Canada, and many more. She retired in Cle Elum, Washington with Richard and spent time at the senior center with her Jumping Jaws exercise group. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Sharon is survived by her husband, Richard C. Smith, daughters, Angie Anguiano, Billie Parke (Geno Parke), Heather West, son, Trask Eardley (Dana Eardley), stepdaughters, Mona Fritz (Larry), Kathy Kastning (Bud J.), Linda Maw (Mike), 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Sharon is predeceased by her siblings, Jack Hogan, Jerry Hogan, Patrick Hogan and Molly Harris. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home in Moxee, Washington with refreshments directly following. Internment will be at a later date.
