Suzanne Eddins Dyer Obituary (2023)

Suzanne Eddins Dyer was born in Wadesboro, NC on 3/8/1949 to Prentice Eddins and Katie Eddins Gelsomini. She died on 12/13/2023 in Yakima, WA, surrounded by family. Suzanne will forever be remembered as a lady with immense inner strength, and more than a touch of stubbornness. She held many hats during her lifetime. She owned and operated a trucking company, moving regularly from coast to coast, following business opportunities. After eventually settling in Yakima, WA, she was employed for many years with the Yakima County Sheriffs office as a dispatcher. Suzanne truly loved this position, and she made lasting friendships during this time. Later, along with her late husband Jim Dyer, Suzanne owned, operated and managed an apple orchard. When Jim passed away, Suzanne followed her dream of returning to the east coast and living at the beach. She packed everything up and away she went driving a moving truck! This allowed her years to spend with siblings and cousins, taking trips and making memories together. She was fearless! She also rarely heeded warnings to evacuate her beach home during hurricanes and rode out the storms, even as the waters rose around her. She seemed to thrive on the excitement and prove her stubbornness! Last year, she drove herself from SC to WA and back again two separate times! After close to a decade, she returned to Washington, to be closer to family. Most recently, Suzanne especially loved the time she spent with her two young great grandsons, always sporting a prideful smile when in their presence. Suzanne was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Dyer, both of her parents, Prentice and Katie, her brother, Phil, and sister, Margaret Robeson. Suzanne is survived by her daughter, Rosie (Canipe) Drewniany of Naches, WA, grandchildren Matthew Drewniany of Boise, ID, Jacob Drewniany of Yakima, WA, and Kelsey Ehlers (David) and their children, Damon & Rhett. Suzanne is also survived by siblings: Ralph Eddins, of San Diego, CA, Patricia (Sydney) Braswell of Norwood, NC, and Debbie Nash of Wadesboro, NC along with many nieces, nephews and special cousins.
