In Loving Memory of Tanya Lei (Charlton) Nelson November 25, 1962 – March 3, 2026 Surrounded by her family, Tanya Lei (Charlton) Nelson passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, at the age of 63 at Virginia Mason in Seattle. Her departure leaves a space that can never be filled, but her warmth, kindness, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. A Life Rooted in Love and Simplicity Born and raised near Ellensburg, Tanya grew up riding horses and helped with the family farm—experiences that shaped her gentle spirit and lifelong love of animals. She graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1981 and later worked for Bob and Shirley Hood at the 18th Street Deli, serving as their bookkeeper and becoming a trusted part of their daily life. A Devoted Wife and Mother Tanya met Daryl Nelson in the winter and spring of 1991. After a short engagement, they married on October 5, 1991, beginning a partnership filled with loyalty, laughter, and unwavering support. Their greatest joy arrived on December 9, 1999, with the birth of their daughter, Danya Lei Nelson, who remained the light of Tanya’s life. A Heart for Animals An avid caretaker, Tanya lovingly tended to the family’s horses, dogs, and cats. Her compassion extended to every creature she encountered, and her quiet dedication created a home full of warmth and gentle care. Family Above All Tanya was proceeded in death by her wonderful Father Larry Charlton and is survived by her husband of 35 years, Daryl, and their daughter, Danya. She is also survived by her mother, Marilyn Charlton, and her brothers and their families: Ken and Kathi (Koester) Charlton and their daughter Kiera; Dan and Michelle (Carter) Charlton, and their daughter and families Karina Charlton. Akaisha (Charlton) & Ethan Johnson along with their Daughter Etta Raelyn Forever Missed Tanya’s legacy is one of love, gentleness, and devotion. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
