Obituary for Terry Dean Ellis
Terry Dean Ellis was born on October 25, 1951, in Princeton, Missouri to Lloyd and Maxine (Covey) Ellis. During his early childhood, he moved with his family to the Yakima area, where they made their home in West Valley.
Terry attended West Valley High School and graduated with the Class of 1969. Known for his charm and easy smile, he was voted “Best Looking” by his classmates, a title that reflected both his appearance and the warm personality so many would come to know and appreciate throughout his life.
After high school, Terry married Jeanie, and together they had two children. Following their divorce, he met the love of his life, Karen (Kloida), and together they created an instant family of six. They raised their family in the small community of Selah before eventually settling in Terrace Heights.
Terry spent much of his leisure time enjoying the outdoors. He loved camping, fishing, shooting skeet, and spending weekends meticulously shining up his cars. His dream car, a 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, became a reality and was one of his greatest joys.
He earned his living working in the logging industry, often alongside his brothers, Gary and Larry, and their father. Throughout his career, he worked for Jefferson, Zwight, Teemah, and eventually traveled the West Coast with a Columbia helicopter logging company. Those travels sparked Terry and Karen’s love of coastal adventures and RVing. They especially loved stopping in Depoe Bay, one of their favorite places along the coast.
After the passing of his beloved wife Karen in 2022, Terry spent cherished time traveling between Moxee and Sequim, enjoying bonfires and beers with his good friend George, savoring great barbecue, and keeping his beloved dog Chapo faithfully by his side wherever he went.
Terry passed away peacefully in his sleep in Moxee on May 6th, 2026.
He leaves behind his brothers, Gary Ellis and Larry (Mary) Ellis; his children Donald Bruce (Lisa) Rennie, Renee (Shane) Snodgrass, Brenda Urquhart, and Donna Braley; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen (Kloida) Ellis; his parents, Lloyd and Maxine (Covey) Ellis; Bill and Carol (Bentley) Kloida; his son, Matt Ellis; his son-in-law, Russell Urquhart; and his grandchildren, Tony Spencer, Ashley Guthrie, and Dougie Raymond.
The family will not be holding a private service honoring his wishes. In honor of Terry’s memory, they ask that you enjoy a day at the beach. When you hear a little rumble...don't worry it's just him saying "Jesus Christ Karen"...a warmth that brings peace knowing they are back together again.
