Thomas Wynne Henderson

Thomas Wynne Henderson, PhD, spent his childhood on the family farm at Nezperce, Idaho. He was gleeful and inquisitive (bordering on mischievous) and loved people, baseball, and music. He enjoyed David Horsey editorial cartoons.

After receiving an accounting degree from the University of Idaho, he worked as a CPA. He went on to earn an MBA at the University of Washington. That lead him to an analyst position in the gaming industry. It was his PhD (Interdisciplinary Computer Science, Statistics and Education) from Washington State University that led him to his real passion, evaluation of and improvement of the educational process. He retired from his position as the Director of Assessment at Central Washington University, as a Distinguished Administrator in 2021.

He moved to Yakima to be near his sister, Marjorie Henderson (Mike Maples). Tom is survived by his beloved nephews, Mark Maples (Ayano Ogawa), and Wesley Maples (Luiny Gelpi Rivera).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to Yakima & Selah Neighbor’s Network and sent in care of Brookside Funeral Home (PO Box 1267, Moxee, WA 98936) or made online at yesneighbors.org.
