William Francis Mach Obituary (2024)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William "Bill" Mach on February 4, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on March 2, 1950, in Yakima, Bill led a life defined by kindness, compassion, humor and unwavering love. His presence brought joy, laughter, and warmth. His passing leaves a void in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Bill was a beloved husband, a devoted father and grandpa, and a cherished relative and friend to many. Bill worked tirelessly for over 47 years, as the owner of Valley Septic Service. Throughout his career he continued to make us all laugh with slogans that he thought were funny. "#1 in the #2 business" is just one of many. In 2016 he made the decision to retire and his daughter, Shawnell, and son-in-law, Lance, took over the family business, but not without dad inserting his opinion on how things should go when he saw fit. He was proud of the business he built, but even prouder of watching his daughter and son-in-law continue to grow it. Bill is survived by his wife, Donna, his children and their spouses, Shawnell and Lance Wright, and Heather and Brett Shurtleff, his grandchildren, Emily Wright (AJ), Ashley (Spencer), and Madilynn Shurtleff, his sisters and their children, Connie (Jim) Rogers, Devin and Jason Baum, Kathy (Nick) Knutson, MaryAnn Liniger and her children, Scott, Brian, Paul, John and the late Larry Liniger, Carol (Joe) Brackney and her children, Kayde Jordan and Jarrod Johnson, and a host of relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. In addition to his immediate family, Bill is reunited in peace with his parents, his siblings, cherished pets, as well as numerous other relatives and friends who preceded him. Their reunion brings comfort to those left behind, knowing that he is surrounded by loved ones once more. A Memorial Service and Reception to celebrate the life of Bill will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 1:00pm, at Shaw & Sons Funeral Home (201 N. 2nd St., Yakima, WA). Though Bill may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will live on in the memories and hearts of those he left behind. May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to us all. We love you dad; you will be dearly missed and forever cherished.
