Wilma Estey

Prosser, Washington

Wilma Faye "Sis" Blevins Estey passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, at the age of 87. She was born July 14, 1938, to Melvin and Bertha Blevins, in Black Creek Holler, near Peggs, Oklahoma. She was sister to Anne, Joyce, Junior, June and Jimmy, and was known as Sis, or Sissie, to everyone who loved her.

Wilma graduated from Columbia High School in White Salmon, WA, class of 1955. In 1957, she married Harry Paul Estey, and together they had three children: Brett, Krystal, and John-Paul. She first came to Prosser in 1975. In 1979, she met Thomas Lala, who was her partner for many years. In 1996, the two built her home on the river, a place she transformed over time into a magical oasis.

She had a gift for growing things. Her yard was something to behold, overflowing with flowers she tended with devotion. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and her kitchen was always a place where good things happened.

Sissie had a lifelong love of sports, not just as a spectator, but as a player. Growing up, she had a natural talent for baseball, and she went on to become an accomplished bowler as well. That love of the game never left her, it just eventually moved to the sidelines, where she cheered just as fiercely for her grandchildren. In her retired years, she faithfully supported her grandchildren at every soccer game, dance recital, school play, and band concert, and she simply adored every new baby who joined the family.

She leaves behind a family who will feel her absence in every garden, every kitchen, and every game day for the rest of their lives.

Sissie will be laid to rest at the Prosser Cemetery on June 27, 2026 at 10:00am, with a graveside service.
